Abstract

With the development of pulse power technology, the nanosecond pulse power supply (NSPPS) is widely used in the area of scientific research, military, industry, medicine, environmental protection, material processing and so on. Different applications of the NSPPS ask for different functions, such as the control modes selectable, work modes selectable, output voltage adjustable, pulse frequency adjustable, and even the pulse width of the output voltage is adjustable. In this paper, a control system of a NSPPS which used for the scientific research is designed. The control system is designed based on the DSP controller and the CAN bus communications. The program of the DSP and the computer software is compiled to realize the remote control by CAN bus communications of the NSPPS. The output pulse voltage can be regulated from 0 to 40 kV and the frequency of the pulse can be regulated from 0 to 2 kHz by using the control system. By selecting the different modes of the control system, the NSPPS can be controlled by computer software or the keyboard and the NSPPS can work as continuous mode or as intermittent mode. In order to prevent the electromagnetic interference caused by the discharging of NSPPS, long distance optical fiber communication control system is used and measures to enhance the electromagnetic compatibility of the control system is adopt. Experiments of the NSPPS which controlled by the control system is carried on and the results proved that the functions are realized and the performance is good.
