Abstract

In the present scenario, a major concern in the world is to develop technology for wastewater treatment. Now researchers mainly focus on the use of nanotechnology and nanomaterials because of their reduced size they acquire some unique properties like high surface-area-to-volume ratio, surface modifiability, excellent magnetic properties, and great biocompatibility. Nowadays, few technologies are proposed for environmental clean-up. These technologies use nanomaterials as nanosorbents and photocatalysts in wastewater treatment. This chapter outlines the latest applications of nanomaterials in the remediation of wastewater. We also discuss the potential applications of nanomaterials in wastewater remediation and further challenges it poses, as well as discussing the effect on the environment by the discharge of nanomaterials.
