Abstract
Abstract Discusses the conditions governing localization of travertine dams along streams in the karst region of Yugoslavia. Deposition occurs when the flow passes from the so-called tranquil to the turbulent regime, and can be attributed to a cavitation effect. These dams seriously interfere with normal erosion. In Algeria and Morocco such deposits have had an effect on the sculpturing of land forms; vast areas should be studied in detail in the light of this phenomenon.
