Abstract

Abstract Remarks on the structure of the Basque country, Lower Navarre, France. Refutes three structural interpretations of Leon Bertrand--(1) the existence of a Labourd nappe, (2) reverse overthrusts in the Ispeguy col, and (3) overthrusts or reverse thrusts on the borders of the Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port Triassic basin--and concludes that the Pyrenean orogeny was much less intense in the Basque region than in neighboring regions.
