Abstract

The article discusses some features of actant and non-actant metonymy, complementing their main differences. Inactive metonymy, its activity and other features are due only to the existence of certain realities. It is also established that the meanings of some types of actant and non-actant metonymy are not embodied in verbal units and therefore are not marked in explanatory dictionaries.
