Abstract

~~ ~~ Naraa described a spectrophotometric micromethod for determining oxygen saturation in capillary blood, employing a conventional 0.1 mm blood counting chamber as a cuvette. The wave lengths were 600 and 505 nm. In this paper figures for the spectrophotometric constants for fully oxygenated (D600/D505 HbO,) and reduced blood (D600/D505 Hb) in normal individuals were given. Furthermore it was reported that slightly different values were obtained with the two spectrophotometers used. The authors recommended centrifugation of the blood samples before hemolysis as perfect hemolysates could not otherwise be obtained in all samples.
