Abstract
The following statement relates to the process for the aeration of water, as introduced during the past year on the works of the Hackensack Water Company, and as now being introduced in the City of Philadelphia. The Hackensack Water Company, reorganized, supplies that portion of New Jersey on the west bank of the Hudson River, lying opposite that portion of the City of New York above Grand street, and including Hoboken, Union Hill, Weehawken, North Bergen, Ridgefield, Hackensack and other adjacent places. The water is taken from the Hackensack River at New Milford, about five miles above Hackensack; from thence it is pumped 14 miles through a castiron main to the principal reservoir on the heights north of Hoboken. The Hackensack Reservoir is connected with this main about three miles from the pumping station.
