Abstract

Tolerance, growth, commitment, cooperation, and agreement are examples of beliefs and behaviors that separate lines of past research have found to be related to satisfaction in marriage and to pro-religiosity. Because of this dual finding measures of pro-religiosity and measures of marital adjustment and satisfaction were hypothesized to be positively correlated. The quality of marriage of 64 couples was measured with the Locke-Wallace Marital Adjustment Scale (LWMAS) and other single item measures of spouses' satisfaction with their marriage. Seventeen measures of religiosity were included. The results confirm the hypothesis. Discussion suggests ways in which quality of marriage may express the religiosity of the spouses.
