Abstract

In five chapters Lerner: (1) examines the legal, conceptual, and linguistic issues in religious human rights; (2) discusses religious rights under United Nations agreements and statements; (3) probes regional protections for religious human rights; (4) highlights the main issues involved in protecting religious groups from persecution; and (5) offers a concluding chapter on the need for and ambiguity surrounding the attempts to develop a global treaty on religious rights.
