Abstract

Book Review| October 01 2018 Religion and Representation in the “New Brown America” of Muslim Comedy Jaclyn Michael Jaclyn Michael Jaclyn Michael is Assistant Professor of Asian Religions at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She is a scholar of Islam with research specializations in performance studies, Asian religions, and South Asian literatures and cultures. Her current book project examines how performances of Indian Muslim identities in theatre, tourism, and cinema participate in debates about national history, politics, and religious belonging. She completed her Ph.D. in the Department of Asian Languages and Cultures at the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 2016.
