Abstract

The article analyzes state and church relations in international agreements as a regulation tool. Main attention has been attributed at agreements of the Lithuanian Republic with the Holy See and their meaning in state and church relations. The main problem considered was – if the state performed legal regulations on the basis of international agreements, does this not create discriminatory conditions in respect of other traditional religious communities. This article presents conclusions based on relations between the state and church which are regulated by legislation analysis and qualitative (semi-structured) interview material with traditional religious community representatives and experts.
