Abstract
AbstractNinety percentage of the products of world are transported by marine in the sea. Marine networks are used in the ocean for logistics ships for which many methods are used to transfer the data from one ship to another. Also, the communication from one ship to the cloud via satellite communication is involved. Most common method of communication in marine environment is radio very high frequency. The communication among ships is carried out by very high-frequency radio in marine environment, digital selective calling has been united with VHF as per the instruction of Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS), and radio frequency is the most common method for transferring the data in the marine environment. But the problem of absolute accuracy exists, like short range, signal interference due to weather like rain cannot travel through objects like walls. IoT can be helpful in these environments for data acquisition and then effective data transmission. In marine-IoT environment, the ships are collectively called as both master and slave nodes. One ship can be chosen as master node based upon the location, availability, robustness and data transfer. In case of a ship losing its privilege as a master node, the immediate next ship can be chosen as master node and then the previous master node will turn out to be a slave node. The objective of this research work is to establish communication reliably without spending much cost on networking the ships.KeywordsInternet of thingsData transmissionMarine logisticsMaster–slave communicationClustering
