Abstract

This paper describes the challenges involved for predicting reliability of power electronics converter systems and provides recommendations. To this aim, a case study for modelling a 30 kW inverter platform for power quality applications is presented. The converter is based on different circuit boards that were analysed by electronics reliability prediction. In addition, fans and an IGBT module were modelled by a Weibull failure distribution. The study underlines that the reliability assessment of complex electronics is a persisting challenge.
