Abstract

Abstract A performance measure for a reconfigurable control system is introduced in the form of an interval between two values of coverage that is to enter the overall system reliability computation. The size of the interval is a reRection of information deficiency. The definition of such coverage depends explicitly on the performance measures of a control module and a diagnostic module. It allows us, in a precise manner, to depict the relationships between the overall system reliability and the performance requirements on these modules. An example is given to show how reliability is functionally related to the values of diagnostic resolution and of control performance threshold.
