Abstract
This study examined the reliability and validity of the Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory™ (PedsQL) Oral Health Scale, a 5-item measure of child self-reported and parent-proxy reported pediatric oral health. One hundred twenty-six families participated during Phase 1 of the study, and 34 during Phase 2. Internal consistency and agreement between parent and child reports were examined. The construct, criterion-related, and convergent validity of the measure was supported by the results of this study. Using the PedsQL Oral Health Scale and the PedsQL 4.0 Generic Core Scales provide a generic health-related quality of life assessment that captures the physical, emotional, social, school, and oral domains of health.
