Abstract

The paper presents a general model for evaluating the rupture frequencies and reliability of the piping system in nuclear power plant based on the theory of semi-Markov process. The proposed model is able to incorporate the effect of aging related degradation of pipes. Time dependent rupture frequencies are computed and compared against those obtained from the homogeneous Markov process model. The influence of flaw and leak inspection intervals on the piping rupture probability is investigated.
