Abstract

AbstractLife scatter should be estimated when performing fatigue reliability analysis for a structure. Probabilistic approaches require a large amount of statistical information, which is usually unrealistic because of the test condition constraints. In this study, a non‐probabilistic convex modelling approach was proposed for estimating E‐N scatter. A random grouping method is employed to enlarge the sample size for uncertainty quantification. The limited experimental data of AISI H11 was used for E‐N scatter estimation. The results show that non‐probabilistic convex modelling approach is more competitive in practical engineering application, especially for high‐reliability based optimization design.
