Abstract

Abstract This paper deals with a two-dissimilar-unit parallel redundant system in which unit 1 has preemptive priority in being repaired. Under the assumptions that the life time of unit 1 is an mth Erlang distribution, the life time of unit 2 and the repaired time of unit i(i = 1,2) are all general continuous distributions, we obtain almost all of the interesting reliability indices of the system. Finally, we give the upper and lower limits of a special case which has not been discussed elsewhere.
