Abstract
Survey of the diversity of terrestrial Heteroptera (Hemiptera) in the Cura Malal hills, Buenos Aires province, Argentina. This study includes the results of the first intensive survey of terrestrial Heteroptera in hills from the southern region of the Buenos Aires province. The survey was conducted from May 2005 to March 2006 in the Cura Malal hills at four different altitudes: in the foothills (450 m), at 600 m, 750 m and 1000 m above sea level. A combination of collecting methods: pitfall traps, sweeping net and light traps were used. Eighty species were captured resulting in some new distributional data and probable new species. The greatest density of species matched to both intermediate height strata, possibly due to greater diversity of the vegetation and/or greater complexity or because the microclimatic conditions for the studied groups were more appropriate.

El trabajo se realizó sobre la ladera oriental del cerro Cura Malal, a cuatro niveles altitudinales: en la base, a 450 msnm (Fig. 2, A), a los 600 msnm (Fig. 2, B), 750 msnm (Fig. 2, C) y a los 1000 msnm (Fig. 2, D). En la tabla 1 pueden observarse todas las especies colectadas en este período y la/s altura/s donde fueron capturadas. Veintinueve especies fueron capturadas en el estrato de 450 msnm, encontrándose once de ellas sólo a esta altura, 37 especies a los 600 msnm, con ocho especies encontradas en ese estrato. A los 750 msnm se registraron 40 especies, once de ellas halladas solamente a esta altura, en tanto 29 especies fueron capturadas a 1000 msnm, resultando ser, diez de ellas, sólo encontradas a esta altura (Tabla 2). Se excluyen de este análisis las tres especies capturadas mediante trampa de luz ya que este método fue utilizado en un único punto.
