Abstract

The IR absorption of the relaxed excited state, the Stark effects in emission, and field-induced changes in life time have been measured mainly for the FA (Na) center in KCl. A modified Bogan and Fitchen model, by introducing an asymmetric crystalline field, can explain these observations as well as the emission polarization and temperature dependence of life time consistently.
