Abstract

Between 0.3 and 4K a large anomalous specific heat is found for NaCl containing substitutional CN -. The CN - concentration dependence of the anomaly shows that the molecules interact strongly with each other. From an analysis of internal thermal equilibration rates, we have found the time constant for molecule lattice relaxation to be (1.0±0.5) T -1 sec K at helium temperatures.
