Abstract
Covariant kinetic equations are derived from quantum hadrodynamics (QHD) and applied to heavy-ion collisions at intermediate energies ( E beam ≲ 2GeV/u). It is shown that medium effects strongly modify the initial equilibration process and the reabsorption of pions and deltas during the final expansion phase.
