Abstract

The principal problems of electronic excitation evolution and the phenomena of self-induced lattice distortion and self-trapping of excitation in rare-gas cryocrystals are considered. The mechanisms of energy relaxation and formation of new point defects in the lattice are analyzed on the basis of spectroscopic measurements of cathodoluminescence and absorption in VW and VIS ranges as a function of temperature and radiation dose.
