Abstract

This study presents relaxation curves after inhalation and deposition of spherical magnetic particles with an aerodynamic diameter of 2.8 μm. The particles were magnetized during three different time intervals to test the elastic components of the environment of the particles in the lungs. Seven days after deposition a lung lavage was done with one person to obtain macrophages with particles for further study. The lavaged macrophages were observed under high resolution light and electron microscopy where the particles could be found in the phagolysosomes of the macrophages
