Abstract

We derive a relativistic full-potential multiple-scattering theory (MST) as a direct analog of a recently developed version of nonrelativistic full-potential MST. The secular equation is derived from the Lippmann-Schwinger equation by expanding the wave function in terms of cell basis functions which are locally exact solutions of the Dirac equation. The Green function can be expressed in terms of the basis functions and the secular matrix in a form analogous to the nonrelativistic case. The relationship between this theory and currently widely used relativistic muffin-tin MST is also discussed.
