Abstract

A relativistic formalism for many quasielastic nuclear reactions is discussed. Here relativistic effects arise from the change in nucleon Dirac spinors in the medium. This change reduces the analyzing power in ( p, p′) and the RPA enhancement of the spin longitudinal response in ( p, n) . It also may impact the extraction of nucleon axial and strange quark currents from quasielastic neutrino scattering data.
