Abstract

The oscillator strengths of the principal spectral series of several members of the sodium isoelectronic sequence, some of which are particularly important in astrophysics and nuclear fusion plasmas, are reported. The computations were carried out using two formalisms within the context of quantum defect theory: the quantum defect orbital method and its relativistic counterpart. The advantages of including relativistic effects are apparent.
