Abstract

Within a relativistic effective complex nucleon-nucleon interaction derived by solving the Dirac-Bethe-Goldstone equation in momentum space, the 12C− 12C reaction cross section is calculated. It is found that the relativistic treatment increases the reaction cross section. The increase in the high energy region is of great significance. When the surface contributions of the low-lying collective 2 + and 3 − excited states are taken into account, a good agreement with recent data is obtained.
