Abstract
The decay matrix elements of exclusive weak decays of heavy mesons are studied in the framework of the relativistic quark model based on the quasipotential approach in quantum field theory. It is shown that the heavy quark 1/ m Q expansion considerably simplifies the analysis both for heavy-to-heavy and heavy-to-light decays. The comparison is made with the model-independent predictions of heavy quark effective theory and available experimental data.
