Abstract

The effects of a deformed projectile charge on the relativistic Coulomb excitation theory are investigated. The effects of relevance are (a) the variation of the minimum impact parameter as a function of the orientation of the projectile and (b) the modification of the time dependent electromagnetic field due to the projectile deformation.
