Abstract

This article focuses on the challenge of aligning two potentially opposing institutional logics in hybrid organisations; and addresses the debate as to whether hybrids are increasingly dominated by business logics to the detriment of their social mission. Findings indicate that existing approaches lack a systemic framework that identifies where mission related tensions lie, and we show how these can be ameliorated by application of the stakeholder systems model. The model utilises dimensions of organisational justice to assess the level of equity stakeholders experience in their dealings with the focal organisation and how due recognition of these can limit mission drift.
