Abstract
Articles from Volume 16 of Developmental Psychology were reviewed with respect to the number of studies that employed multiple dependent measures within the analysis of variance framework. These results were compared to similar reviews done in counseling and experimental psychology. Due to the large proportion (50% to 60%) of studies using analysis of variance designs with multiple dependent measures in developmental, counseling, and experimental psychology research, and the relatively infrequent use of multivariate analysis of variance, more frequent use was recommended to control experimentwise error while enhancing statistical power.
