Abstract
The subunits of the multienzyme complex rat liver fatty acid synthetase are degraded with half lives which are related to their molecular weight in a manner similar to that found in the laboratory of Schimke for soluble, membrane and ribosomal proteins from rat liver. The rates of turnover of all the subunits of fatty acid synthetase appear to be slower than the rate of exchange of the enzyme prosthetic group, 4′-phosphopantetheine.
