Abstract

Background and Aims: Left ventricular assist device (LVAD) patients are at increased risk of thrombo-embolisms and major bleedings, making anticoagulation therapy challenging. Unstable anticoagulant control expressed as high international normalized ratio (INR) variability, is associated with clinical events in atrial fibrillation patients. However, data on this association in LVAD patients are unavailable. We therefore aimed to study the association between anticoagulant control and clinical events in patients with an LVAD.
