Abstract
Type A behavior is often measured by a structured interview (SI). Speech stylistics are believed to play a more important role in assessment than content of an interviewee's responses. This proposition was evaluated by bandpass filtering the content of the SI and training subjects to make assessments on the basis of speech stylistics alone. Subjects who made behavior pattern ratings in terms of stylistics were as accurate as those who used both content and stylistics. Content alone was an inferior basis for judging Type B interviews. These results may reflect a stronger association between response content and stylistics among Type A than Type B individuals.
