Abstract

A high-sensitivity optical fiber relative humidity (RH) sensing probe consisting of a U-shaped microfiber interference coated with molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) films proposed and experimentally demonstrated. The film thickness is studied to enhance sensor performance of the refractive index (RI) sensitivity in the immerse-coating method. The experimental results show that the greater the film thickness, the higher the RH sensitivity. We can selectively use the microfiber coated with MoS2 materials of different thicknesses for RH monitoring according to the actual RH environment.
