Abstract

The need for higher information rates has been increasing due to the rise of modern wireless communication systems. A practical bitrate analysis for RF communication media, without prior information about coding or modulation, is still not thoroughly investigated. The major aim of this paper is to propose a practical approach for estimating the bandwidth-dependent channel capacity for multi-channel high-speed data connectors. The well-known Shannon-Hartley theorem is adopted for this purpose where a detailed signal-to-noise-and-interference S/(N+I) analysis is carried out in terms of scattering and EMC parameters obtained from simulations and measurements in the baseband.
