Abstract

Objective To investigate the relationship between the changes of prothrombin activity (PTA) and early severe hepatitis and cirrhosis in the patients. Methods The method of random sampling was used,a retrospective analysis on PTA was carried out in the patients with severe hepatitis and cirrhosis in hepatology section in our hospital from January to December in 2010.Results PTA(%)of general acute hepatitis was higher than early severe hepatitis and cirrhosis ( P < 0.01 ); PTA ( % ) of early severe hepatitis was lower than that of the cirrhosis group (P< 0.05 ); PTA ( % ) < 30 or > 30,the case fatality rate of severe hepatitis was higher than that of cirrhosis, the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05); the case -fatality rate of early diagnosis and treatment was lower than advanced diagnosis and treatment on severe hepatitis (x 2=5.21,P < 0.05 ).Conclusion PTA is a sensitive index on reflection of early severe hepatitis and liver cirrhosis; suggestion of dynamic monitoring on PTA should be used for patients with hepatitis B,if patients of early severe hepatitis and cirrhosis can be found, and reasonable treatment can be provided, then the death rate would be reduced. Key words: Early; Severe hepatitis B; Cirrhosis; Prothrombin activity
