Abstract

Larvae of Grapholitha molesta (Busck) were exposed to phosmet residual deposits produced by different numbers and sizes of droplets of WP suspensions. Mortalities were recorded 20 h after 3, 5, and 8 min exposures. Residues from a low concentrate (1 g/liter AI) produced 60% mortality only with an 8-min exposure for both large and small droplets. With 4 g/liter AI, large droplets required fewer numbers but more phosmet/cm2 than did small droplets for the same mortality. For any area covered, small droplets gave higher kill than large droplets with 4 g/liter AI. For > 70% control of 1st instars, coverage must exceed 4% of foliage surface with 4 g/fliter AI and 15% with 1 g/liter AI.
