Relationship of inflammatory factors and von Willebrand factor with metabolic syndrome in Chinese hypertensive subjects

Abstract

Objectives To compare the difference of inflammatory factors and von Willebrand factor between Chinese hypertensive subjects and hypertensives with metabolic syndrome, and to explore the relationship of these factors with the development of metabolic syndrome. Design and methods 138 consecutive Chinese subjects with hypertension were divided into two groups: hypertensives with metabolic syndrome (EH+MS group, n=99), or essential hypertensives (EH group, n=39), according to the new definition of metabolic syndrome by IDF 2005.
