Abstract

Fifty patients were evaluated for the presence and concentration of bile in fluids accumulated in the dependent portion of the stomach at gastroscopy. This was compared in each case with the presence and degree of gastritis as evident in multiple mucosal biopsy specimens. There was little correlation. The authors caution against ascribing undue significance to the presence of intragastric bile.
