Abstract

The interaction between hydrogen and copper ions and two poly(amido-amine)s containing two basic aliphatic nitrogens, two aliphatic nitrogens and two pendent hydroxyl groups, have been investigated by calorimetric techniques. The polymers are adsorbed on the surface of the chalcocite mineral and cause a dispersing effect which has been measured. The action of the two polymers on the copper mineral and the mechanism of adsorption have been explained by considering the species present in solution and the appropriate thermodynamic quantities.
