Abstract

This paper serves to show, by means of mathematical transforms, the relationship that exists between the real and complex form of the mathematical model for a symmetric induction machine. Case studies are presented to demonstrate that, although the results are independent of the form of modelling and frame of reference used, certain models are more useful than others for certain investigations and the combined use of both forms of modelling can enhance one's understanding of the physical processes that occur within the machine.
