Abstract

Results of the study of the succession state of plankton communities of the regulated and river sections of the Teterev River in terms of their production indices are given in the paper. It has been found that autotrophic direction of metabolism of plankton communities, which coincides with the spring, summer, and autumn peaks of primary production, prevails in the seasonal cycle. A predominance of decomposition over production is observed during the period of seasonal depression, and also in early spring and late autumn. It has been shown that earlier stages of succession of plankton communities prevail in the Promyshlennoye reservoir, whereas later stages of succession of plankton communities ("balanced" communities) are observed in the river section.
