Abstract

Quantum dot (QD) embedded organic bistable devices (OBDs) were fabricated and the relationship between the bistability of the QD based OBDs and the QD particle size was studied using three CdSe/ZnS QDs with different particle sizes. The use of the blue QD with small particle size was effective to achieve a high on/off ratio, while the green and red QDs with a large particle size was not so effective as the blue QD. The small QD was better than the large QDs for high on/off ratio and charge trapping/detrapping by the QD was the dominant mechanism for the bistability.
