Abstract

An analysis is made of the transition from an amplification diagram to the saturation energy density relating directly to each amplifier cross section. On the basis of a comparison between the experimental results and an empirical formula for the effective cross section of stimulated transitions, expressions are derived for the degree of release of the stored energy and for the amplification diagrams. These expressions can allow for an inhomogeneous broadening of a luminescence line in calculations of the pulse deformation in the active medium and in determination of the decay integral. The relationship is identified between the effective saturation energy density and the parameters of the spectral inhomogeneity of the luminescence line profile of the active medium.
