Abstract

The article examines the relationship between quality of life and alexithymia in patients with somatoform disorders working in the nuclear industry. The study of the mental health of nuclear industry workers is necessary to prevent the loss of their ability to work and preserve the safe operation of enterprises. Disorder of the ability of employees of this category to verbalize their experiences and recognize the state of anxiety can have a significant negative impact on their emotional state and create obstacles to therapeutic work. The purpose of the presented study was to identify the relationship between the quality of life of patients with somatoform disorders working in the nuclear industry and the level of alexithymia. The results of the study showed that in female nuclear industry workers with somatoform disorders, a relatively large "vital activity" is associated with somatization of symptoms due to pronounced alexithymia.
