Abstract

ABSTRACT The study aimed to analyze in a sample of 200 students (10 to 12 years) from middle schools in Portugal the association between the quality of the student-teacher relationship and the presence of psychopathic traits. Findings suggested the existence of differences in the presence of psychopathic traits and in the quality of the student-teacher relationship regarding sex; that conflict relationship between teacher-student is positively associated with psychopathic traits; a conflicting relationship between teacher-student appears to predict the presence of psychopathic traits. It is necessary to work with the school community with the aim of optimizing relationships and preventing behavioral problems..
