Abstract

Objective To study the relationship between plasma brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) and infarction location in acute myocardial infarction(AMI) patients after reperfusion thera- py. Methods Fifty AMI patients undertaken reperfusion therapy were selected. They were divided into acute anterior myocardial infarction group (anterior AMI group ) and acute inferior myocardial infarction group (inferior AMI group) according to infarction location. Brain natriuretic peptide(BNP) levels were monitored on admis- sion, 24 hours after reperfusion therapy, 30 days after reperfusion. The relationship between plasma brain natriuretic peptide(BNP) level and infarction location were analyzed. Results Comparing acute anterior myocardial infarction (anterior AMI group) and acute inferior myocardial infarction( inferior AMI group), BNP on admission( BNP0), BNP at 24 hours after reperfusion therapy(BNP24) was higher in inferior AMI group (P 〈 0. 05 ). There was no significant difference in BNP 30 between the two groups(P 〉 0. 05 ). Conclusions Plasma BNP leve of therapy is higher in anterior acute myocardial infarction patients. days after reperfusion ( BNP30 ) 24 hours after AMI reperfusion Key words: Acute myocardial infarction; Brain natriuretic peptide
