Abstract

A relationship was found between log of plant height and log of transpiration in greenhouse-grown cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L) from emergence through the boll stage of growth. The correlation coefficients obtained between these two parameters for varieties CA 491, Acala 1517 BR-2, Lankart 57, Paymaster 111, and Stoneville 7-A were .98, .93, .96, .97, and .96, respectively. Variety Paymaster 111 transpired significantly more water per unit height than varieties Acala 1517 BR-2 and Stoneville 7-A.
